Part one of Last Day in Maine

A beautiful picture of an icy creek in Surrey Maine

A creek that empties into Patton Bay shows a lovely waterfalls at low tide.

The same creek at hide tide later on in the day.

Patton Bay at Surrey Maine - low tide broke up the ice and left it just lying around in big sheets.

Patton Bay at Sunset and high tide - beautiful!

Beautiful shot of shoreline, looking out toward Union River Bay.

I've crossed over onto Thompson Island on the way to Mt. Desert Island.  If you pull over at the info center and walk back into the woods, you come out on a beautiful shoreline looking out onto Oldhouse Cove.  The mountains in the background are Beech mnt and Bernard mnt. on Mt. Desert Island.

Pebble beach at Bar Harbor, Maine.

Ice sculture made out of a fence and shrub.

Main Street Bar Harbor, Maine. Champlain Mountian in  background.

02.13.2012

Well, I'm still in Maine but I really don't know for how much longer.  I still haven't heard anything from the job that brought me to this area, but did apply for another one today that sounds promising.  If there is anyone out there reading this, send up your prayers for me for I really want to stay in this area for a while longer.  We got a couple of inches of snow this past weekend, which wasn't bad, but the temps have dropped down below 0 during the nights.  I'd still get out but I'm getting low on gas and am having to wait for funds to come in before I can resume my exploring.

Wish me luck :-)

Birthday Trip - down to Brooklin Maine

I decided to get back out on the road today for my little birthday gift to me.  Another chance to see some of Maine - heading down a long the coast around Penobscot Bay and back up to Blue Hill ME, then home.  Only took three hours or so but was well worth it.

I know, the picture is grainy, but I had to be fast to get a shot at this big beautiful boy - a Lynx giving me a Happy Birthday from just in the woods on the side of the road LOL
From the top of a mountain on State 175 - distant view of Penobscot Bay and mountains on the far far side.
Sargentville Chapel, is having a birthday tomorrow - Happy Birthday S. Chapel!! Dedicated Feb. 8, 1891 ♥
Looking from 175 inland into Salt Pond.
Tide rushing out into Blue Hill Harbor from Salt Pond.
Another shot of tide rolling out from under Salt Pond bridge - beautiful rocky shoreline.
Over the knoll from the bridge at Salt Pond was another chance for a shot of the shoreline - notice all the ice.
Another shot in that same little cove.

Penobscot River Bridge

Notice that there are no guard rails at the scenic stop - it's a loooong drop to the icy river below....But a beautiful view of the Penobscot Bridge http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penobscot_Narrows_Bridge_and_Observatory

Snapshots - Bucksport ME

Looking across the Penobscot River to Fort Knox http://fortknox.maineguide.com/  Didn't go to the Fort today but want to soon.

Another view of the Penobscot River Bridge. Very unique, isn't it.  Will try and get a shot while someone else drives, one day ;-)
Just one of the beautiful old homes that line River Street in Bucksport.
A couple more homes on River Street, Bucksport.
A beautiful old church in Bucksport.  I love old style church architecture!

Snapshots - Bewers Lake

Something you never see in Georgia - a frozen lake!  This is Brewer Lake.  You can see where people drive out on it.
Another shot of Brewer Lake - a small ice skating area cleared off.
Run out of parking in the driveway? Just park on the ice LOL
Don't know if you can tell, but those are PEOPLE walking around out there LOL - another thing you don't see in Georgia, ice fishing huts!

view out of my window

View out of my window on a snowy day.  Looking south with Sweet Pea LOL
